1. What Y.O.D.O. Does
Y.O.D.O. (You Only Die Once) helps you stay connected with the people who matter.
You check in regularly to show you’re okay.
If you ever stop responding, your chosen Delegates are alerted so they can check in on you.
If your passing is confirmed, your private messages are delivered safely to the people you’ve chosen.

2. Who Can Use It
You must be at least 18 to open a Y.O.D.O. account or act as a Delegate or Special Delegate.
Recipients of messages can be any age, but if they’re under 18 when a message is due to be released, a parent or guardian must verify consent first.

3. Your Plans and Prices
All plans start with a 14-day free trial.
You can explore everything without paying until you decide to continue.

  • Monthly and Annual Plans renew automatically unless you cancel first.
  • You’ll always get an email before renewal (3 days for monthly, 14 days for annual).
  • Ten-Year Plans are one-off payments and never renew automatically.
You can cancel at any time before renewal; you’ll still have full access until the period ends.

4. Cooling-Off Period
Your 14-day cooling-off period starts when you add your payment details and your paid plan begins, not when you start your free trial.
If you cancel within those 14 days without using Y.O.D.O., you get a full refund.
If you’ve already started using it (for example, by checking in, creating messages, or adding Delegates), you’ve asked us to begin the service right away — and you give up the right to a full refund.
If you cancel after that, we may still refund you for the unused part of your plan.

5. Pausing and Grace Periods
Only a Delegate can pause your check-ins for a short time (15 or 30 days), for example if you’re in hospital or travelling.
You can’t pause them yourself, but you can change how often they happen.

If you cancel your plan:
  • Monthly users keep access until the end of the billing period.
  • Annual and Ten-Year users keep access for the time they’ve already paid for.
     After that, your account enters a 30-day pre-deletion phase — no check-ins, no new charges, and a chance to reactivate if you change your mind.
    After those 30 days, your data is permanently deleted.

6. Your Data and Privacy
Your information belongs to you.
We protect it with strong encryption and never sell or rent it.
Delegates and Recipients only see what they need for their role.
You can export or delete your account anytime.

7. Fair Use and Security
Please use Y.O.D.O. respectfully:
  • Don’t upload anything illegal or harmful.
  • Don’t impersonate anyone.
  • Don’t interfere with the platform or use bots.
If someone abuses the service, we may suspend or close their account.

8. If We Ever Close
If Y.O.D.O. stops trading or changes ownership, we will:
  • Email all users and Delegates where possible;
  • Offer a way to export your data; and
  • Securely delete everything if the service can’t continue.

9. Your Rights and Ours
  • You can cancel, export your data, or close your account anytime.
  • We can suspend or end accounts if they break the rules or the law.
  • We’ll always notify you of major changes at least 14 days in advance.
  • UK law applies, and any disputes go through the courts of England and Wales — though we’ll always try to resolve things quickly and fairly first.

You stay in control of your account, data and choices — and we promise no hidden terms, no surprise renewals, and no jargon.
